Movement analysis beyond the lab: highlights from the IV SIAMOC Workshop

The IV SIAMOC Workshop, held on February 18th, spotlighted the Cagliari Spoke in an event dedicated to the application of inertial sensors. The workshop brought together a diverse audience, including bioengineering students and healthcare professionals such as physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, orthopedic technicians, and kinesiologists.

Organized by the MeDSP Lab (Danilo Pani and Giulia Sedda) in close collaboration with the Laboratory of Biomechanics and Industrial Ergonomics (directed by Massimiliano Pau, with the support of Micaela Porta, Federico Arippa, and Giulia Casu), the event built upon the scientific advancements presented during the 2025 SIAMOC National Congress.

Technology as a bridge

Following the success of the 2025 National Congress, Cagliari reinforces its role as a strategic hub for biomechanics in Italy. Our sessions explored the integration of inertial sensing potential for mobility analysis both within and outside the laboratory.

The significance of this transition is clear: advanced movement analysis provides clinicians with more effective decision-making tools and offers patients highly personalized treatment pathways.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the students and researchers who enthusiastically participated in the hands-on sessions at the Laboratory of Biomechanics and Industrial Ergonomics.

Building a multidisciplinary future is a challenge that can only be overcome by staying connected.
