Applications by September 28, 2025:Registrations are now open for the series of seminars “After the PhD. Tools and opportunities to build your professional future beyond academia”, a program designed by PhDs for PhDs who have experienced professional growth. The program is intended for those completing their doctoral studies at the University of Cagliari. This initiative, the result of a collaboration between UNICA and Find Your Doc—the first employment agency in Italy dedicated to PhDs—aims to guide doctoral candidates through the transition to the job market and to provide them with the skills needed to optimally define their career paths in non-academic contexts. The methodology is characterized by an active and engaging approach that combines theory, practical exercises, simulations, and immediately applicable tools. The program includes three in-person sessions (Italian only)—each lasting 4 hours—open to a maximum of 30 participants.

The program will be led by Chiara Veneziani, PhD in Psychology, expert in career transitions for PhD graduates. As a recruiter and trainer at Find Your Doctor, she supports researchers daily in their career transitions, with direct knowledge of both the academic mindset and employers’ expectations. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to receive a one-to-one career counseling session at the end of the program.

Eligibility requirements: applications are open to PhD candidates enrolled in any doctoral program at the University of Cagliari. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of applicants exceeds 30, priority will be given to those in the final or penultimate year of their PhD. Participation in the program is free of charge.

Until October 15, 2025: students, recent graduates, PhD students and recent PhD graduates from Italian universities can participate in the Enel Innothon Challenge on AI applied to the world of energy. This innovative competition focuses on six challenges of interest to Enel, in which participants are asked to identify a solution for at least one of the proposed challenges. The common theme is artificial intelligence. Winner will receive a prize of €5,000 and a paid internship. Participants can compete individually or as a team (in the latter case, each team member will be eligible for the internship). 27.05.2025 PLACEMENT: on 19 June 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Virtual Fair forDoc will take place, the only national career day reserved to PhD students and PhDs, promoted by the Emblema Foundation in collaboration with UNICA. Potential candidates will be able to take part in online interviews with companies that invest in research and development and are interested in hiring hyper-specialised profiles. Within the framework of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, the University of Cagliari has published with DR n 344 of 1/4/2025 (English version) the notice ‘Open Access Awards: call for applications for contributions to the open access publication of research articles of  young researchers to strengthen their professional careers and enhance the research system of the University of Cagliari.

APPLICANTS: researchers, as defined by the European Charter for Researchers and the TOWARDS A EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK FOR RESEARCH CAREERS, of type R1 (PhD students, residents and non-medical specialization school students), R2 (postdoctoral fellows, research fellows, research contractors) and R3 (RTdA, RTdB, RTT researchers) who are affiliated to the University of Cagliari at the time of submission of the contribution to the publisher, may apply for funding.

PURPOSE:  provide a financial support for publishing in pure (or gold) open access, in Italian and foreign publishers, scientific contributions by eligible subjects.

AVAILABLE RESOURCES: € 80,000.00 total; maximum amount awarded per individual researcher to cover costs shall not exceed €2,500.00 (VAT included) for 2025

The survey is part of an effort of UNICA within the HRS4R strategy to collect the opinion of researchers with respect to the issues of ethics and research integrity in their work context. The analysis of the results of the survey will also lead to new actions to be put in place to improve the research environment in UNICA. It is intended for PhD students (R1), postdocs (R2), researchers (R3 and R4) at different level of research career development, according to the definition by the European Commission (https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/career-development/researchers), ).
