About

The Medical Devices and Signal Processing Lab (MeDSP) is a specialized research team coordinated by Danilo Pani, Associate Professor of Bioengineering at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Cagliari, Italy. It mainly comprises bioengineers with different academic careers and specializations and works on the cutting edge of biomedical engineering research.

MeDSP was born in 2019 as a stimulating environment able to collect the experience in biomedical engineering research accumulated by the head of the team and his collaborators. The lab has a strong relationship with the Advanced Electronic Devices Lab (DEALAB), so some team members are also affiliated with that lab and share projects and research activities.

The MeDSP Lab is highly focused on biomedical engineering research only, from basic science to applied research. We are continuously pursuing higher levels of specialization, mainly in the fields of cardiac electrophysiology and neurorehabilitation engineering, with intense collaborations with other scientists from all over the world. MeDSP is also very active in scientific and technical education, to forge tomorrow’s technologists and researchers.
Current research lines include cardiac electrophysiology, fetal electrocardiography, wearable sensors and systems for health monitoring and advanced user interfaces, digital phenotyping, neurorehabilitation, applied virtual reality, and telemedicine.

MeDSP lab is part of:

  • Interdepartmental Center for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
and Motor Neuron Disease of the Univerisity of Cagliari
  • Interdepartmental Centre for Sleep Medicine of the University of Cagliari
