Visiting Professor 2022 program: prof Wu’s lectures and seminar
As part of the Visiting Professor 2022 program, funded by LR 7/2007 of Regione Autonoma della Sardegna, we had the pleasure of hosting for one month Prof. Hau-Tieng Wu, Full Professor in the Departments of Mathematics and Statistical Science at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, USA.
In the past weeks, the MeDSP Lab team had the opportunity to attend his lecture series entitled “Nonstationary Biorhythm Analysis with Modern Signal Processing Techniques”.
He presented the recent advancements in signal processing and time series analysis geared toward tackling biomedical signals. He showcased how these techniques are inspired by clinical needs and can offer practical solutions for healthcare providers.
A further event, a lectio magistralis on “Nonstationary biorhythm analysis through landmark diffusion with application to liver transplant assessment”, shed light on his recent research activity.
All the team enjoyed these seminars, but also the informal meetings and joint sessions on our electrophysiology research.
In particular, it has been an excellent opportunity to improve the signal processing algorithm for non-invasive fetal ECG extraction we are developing together, based on Giulia Baldazzi’s research.
It has been a great opportunity for us, and we are looking forward to having Prof. Wu here again soon.
