Public Speaking for research

Designed for all PhD programs in the first, second, and third years, the course lasts 10 hours in total, with a final exam. It will be taught exclusively in Italian and in person.
The course includes hands-on individual and group practical activities to familiarize students with effective communication strategies for public speaking. Topics related to verbal, nonverbal, and paraverbal communication will be covered, with a focus on the use of vocality. Expressive reading will also be explored. Finally, PhD students will be guided in planning a speech, preparing supporting materials, and presenting a research topic. Seminars will include classroom, interactive, and laboratory-based teaching.
Instructors: Elisabetta Gola (Professor of Philosophy and Theory of Language at the University of Cagliari) and Patrizia Mottola (Theatre, radio, film, and television actress and professor of Neuro-Linguistic Programming).
