Brief History
The PhD in Innovation Sciences and Technologies (IST) has started its activity with the XXXVIII cycle based on the International PhD in IST, which was established in academic year 2013/14, by taking advantage of the positive experience of the International PhD in Environmental Science and Engineering (2001/02 – Cycle XVII to 2012/13 – Cycle XXVIII) as well as the PhD in Biomedical Engineering (2010/11 – Cycle XXVI to 2012/13 – Cycle XXVIII), both no longer active.
Consequently, the program of the PhD in IST takes into account most of the topics related to the latter areas, while introducing new lines of investigation.
Current PhD Coordinator is Prof.ssa Maria Francesca Casula, vice-coordinator is Prof. Francesco Delogu
Current “Responsabile Assicurazione della Qualità” is Prof. Giorgio Pia
In the frameworkh of the PhD in IST, three curricula are accounted for:
1) Regenerative medicine, biomedical applications and management of complex healthcare systems (Current coordinator is: Prof. Germano Orrù)
2) Methods and systems for the environmental protection (Current coordinator is: Prof. Alessandro Concas)
3) Methodologies and processes for the transformation and use of materials (Current coordinator is: Prof. Francesco Delogu)
The PhD course refers to the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/IT/TXT/PDF/?uri=OJ:C_202301640; https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/sites/default/files/am509774cee_en_e4.pdf) and the PhD Board, and all supervisors and co-supervisors, contribute to make PhD students aware of their role as researchers in their first step of their career.
A bugdet (6.000 Euros unless otherwise states) is available as a support to the research and study activities of the PhD students both in Italy and abroad (as of the UniCa PhD rules, all’art 11, c. 10). The budget is made available, unless otherwise stated, by the Supervisors, cosupervisors or related Departments.
