GET DIRECTIONS
The first two congress days, devoted to the technical and panel discussion sessions, will be held at Cittadella dei Musei (Piazza Arsenale 1), 15-minutes walk far from the city center, or 6-minutes by bus (Bus stop: Buoncammino (Polizia), Line 8/8A/10).
The activities of the last day, such as the Annual SIDRA meeting and the awards cerimonies, will instead take place at Aula Magna – Facoltà di Ingegneria e Architettura (Via Marengo 2), 10 minutes walk far from the Cittadella dei Musei along the Buoncammino promenade, or 5-minute by bus (Bus stop: Piazza d’Armi, Line 8).
The banquet will instead be hosted by the suggestive and historical Convento di San Giuseppe, for which a shuttle service has been arranged.
CITTADELLA DEI MUSEI
In the Castello district, between Porta Cristina and Piazza Indipendenza, a few steps far the Buoncammino promenade and near the Roman amphitheater, it stands the ancient site of the Regio Arsenale, dating back to the Savoy period, which is now, on the initiative of the University of Cagliari and thanks to complex restructuring work that began in 1950, the Cittadella dei Musei, the greatest greatest museum complex in Sardinia.
In the building complex, which aerial view is shown in Figure 1, those that stand out are the Archaeological Museum, a journey back to prehistoric times and to the Byzantine age, with mother goddesses, Nuragic artefacts (see Figure 2 and 3) and Phoenician jewellery, and the National Picture Gallery, where various collections are kept.
The Cittadella dei Musei hosts also cultural events and conferences, such as AUTOMATICA.IT 2022. Inside it, you will also find green areas in which you can relax and admire the views of Cagliari from above.
AULA MAGNA – FACOLTA’ DI INGEGNERIA
CONVENTO DI SAN GIUSEPPE
The San Giuseppe Convent is a centuries-old, suggestive, and ageless place. In the Giudicati period (1365-1409 DC), it was the Santa Maria delle Vigne small country church. Then, the Vittorini monks made it a convent of prayer and work in the fields. Then, in 1600 DC, the Piarists dedicated it to San Giuseppe Calasanzio. Finally, in the 19th century it became the property of the family who still own it today, and for more than a century it was a farm, since the city expanded and enclose it. Twenty years ago, after a careful restoration, it is reborn as a place of meeting, celebration and hospitality. A night view of the convent is given in Figure 5.
