The RuBusT project advances two main research objectives aimed at tackling rural decline and more informed interventions
Enhance our understanding about business transfers (BTs) in remote rural areas (RRAs) to enable informed and effective interventions.
- Explore how the rural context influences BTs, focusing on how existing agricultural institutions and place-based policies might facilitate or hinder BTs in RRAs
- Contribute to the theoretical diversification of BT studies by introducing the spatial dimension of BT through a place-based development (PBD) approach
- Rethink the function of BTs in a socially-oriented and holistic way to put the foundations for informed and effective interventions in RRAs.
Promote social innovation through strategy co-design and academia-industry connections to combat rural decline.
- Promoting a participatory approach in BT research, valuing active participation as the best guarantee for the sustainability and long term impact of the project;
- Engage citizens and actors of different backgrounds in decision-making, where participants are key not only in identifying major bottlenecks in BT transactions, but also in crafting potential solutions;
- Generate new evidence and data on BTs in collaboration with industrial and institutional partners.
