This week, Net4U researchers Prof. Michele Nitti and Dr.Claudio Marche are in Chengdu, China, and took part in the 11th IEEE World Forum on the Internet of Things (WF-IoT 2025), dedicated to the theme “Smart and Sustainable IoT.”
Prof. Nitti and Dr. Marche contributed in two key ways:
Tutorial – “The Trust Factor in IoT: How to Secure Your Smart World”
In the connected world of IoT, trust goes beyond traditional security. The tutorial explores how to ensure data integrity and reliability in dynamic IoT environments, focusing on strategies for trust management, data provenance, and resilience against faulty or compromised devices.
Paper Presentation – “Leveraging Social IoT to Improve Orchestration of Digital Twin Networks”
Presented within the IoT Applications session, the research introduces social mechanisms inspired by the Social Internet of Things (SIoT) to simplify service orchestration in complex Digital Twin Networks. By establishing “social relationships” among Digital Twins, the proposed approach reduces computational complexity and improves network efficiency, as demonstrated in large-scale simulations.
The event also offered an opportunity to meet international experts and lay the groundwork for new collaborations in the IoT field.

Questa settimana, Michele Nitti e Claudio Marche hanno partecipato all’11ª edizione dell’IEEE WF-IoT 2025 in Cina, dedicata al tema “Smart and Sustainable IoT” e alle applicazioni innovative dell’Internet of Things.”
Tutorial – “The Trust Factor in IoT: How to Secure Your Smart World”
Nel loro intervento, il Prof. Nitti e il Dott. Marche hanno approfondito il concetto di “trustworthiness“ nell’ecosistema IoT, intesa come capacità di garantire l’integrità, la qualità e la provenienza dei dati scambiati tra dispositivi connessi. Il tutorial ha illustrato modelli e strategie di gestione della fiducia e le strategie per garantire l’affidabilità delle interazioni, anche in ambienti in cui dispositivi e reti sono in continua evoluzione.
Paper – “Leveraging Social IoT to Improve Orchestration of Digital Twin Networks”
Il paper presentato da prof. Nitti, introduce un approccio innovativo ispirato al Social Internet of Things (SIoT) per migliorare l’orchestrazione delle Digital Twin Networks. Grazie all’introduzione di relazioni “sociali” tra gemelli digitali, l’analisi viene semplificata e l’efficienza complessiva del sistema significativamente aumentata, come dimostrano le simulazioni condotte su larga scala.
L’esperienza in Cina è anche un’occasione per incontrare esperti internazionali e avviare nuove collaborazioni nel campo dell’IoT.
