The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) Monitoring transitional environments: biodiversity, habitats and ecosystem services is an advanced course aiming to provide a solid understanding of the relevance and conservation importance of coastal environments, with special attention to those related to wet habitats.
Students will gain practical skills in implementing field monitoring practices for species, habitats and ecosystem services. The aim is to provide practical experience through guided exercises and evaluations, consolidating the skills acquired and preparing participants to effectively apply these ground-breaking methods in real applications.
The course is open to students (1st, 2nd, and 3rd cycle) enrolled in the Biology and Natural Sciences degree programs, as well as in the PhD course ‘Earth and Environmental Sciences and Technologies’

Number of credits, dates, and venue
Participants will earn 4 ECTS upon successful completion of the course. The in-person part of the course (3 ECTS – 40 h) will be held from May 12 to 16, 2025 at the Botanical Garden of Cagliari, Viale Sant’Ignazio da Laconi 11 – 09123 in Cagliari, Sardinia (Italy). The online part (1 ECTS – 12 h) will be held in April and June, 2025.
