🧪 Group Overview
RISE in Örnsköldsvik has several reactors available for scaling up hydrothermal carbonization (HTC). At smaller scale, 300–500 mL autoclave reactors are available and can operate at temperatures of up to 500 °C and pressures of up to 500 bar.
For larger-scale operations, batch reactors are available for volumes up to 250 L. The 250 L batch reactor is fully installed and operational, with a maximum operating temperature of 230 °C and operating pressures of 40–60 bar. In addition, a 50 L batch reactor is available, suitable for operation at temperatures of up to 200 °C and pressures of up to 20 bar.
Hydrochar focus areas include soil improvement, environmental remediation, energy storage, dewatering and as an energy source.
