CarboREM was founded in 2017 as an innovative startup based in Trentino (Italy). Since 2022, it has been part of the Greenthesis Group, a vertical waste management company and one of the biggest players in the sector in Italy (400 M€ turnover, >600 staff). CarboREM developed its own technology, with patents in the HTC continuous process and in hydrochar applications. The company provides engineering and lab services to R&D centers and companies that want to approach HTC. In addition, CarboREM is able to act as EPC-O in order to engineer, build, construct, and operate two sizes of proprietary turn-key plants: 1) 5,000–7,000 ton/y or 2) 40,000–44,000 tons/year, with digestate/sludge at 10% d.m. as input.
