🔬 Group Overview

The AGH University of Krakow, Poland, has 10 years of experimental experience in hydrothermal carbonization of wet biomass and organic waste confirmed by more than 50 publications devoted to this process, including 30 indexed in the Web of Science. AGH team is focused on the optimization of the HTC and co-HTC processes supported by LCA, the disposal of hydrochar and post-processing liquid as fuel and soil improvers, and the recovery of valuable nutrients. In addition, the AGH team conducts the dewaterability performance of hydrothermal slurry, the combustion and gasification performance of hydrochars, the biomethane potential of hydrothermal slurry and filtrate, as well as post-processing liquid purification methods, including distillation, wet oxidation, coagulation, and membrane techniques, and extraction of microplastics from hydrothermal slurry of sewage sludge.
