Landsat 9 launched on 27 September 2021

Landsat 9 for Earth observation has been launched on 27 September 2021.

Landsat 9 is a partnership between the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) that will continue the Landsat program’s critical role of repeat global observations for monitoring, understanding, and managing Earth’s natural resources.

“Continuing the critical observations made by the Landsat satellites is important now and their value will only grow in the future, given the long term environmental changes we are seeing on planet Earth.” — John Grunsfeld, former NASA Associate Administrator for Science.
