{"id":283,"date":"2025-08-25T19:09:28","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T17:09:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/superfici\/?page_id=283"},"modified":"2025-08-26T10:50:22","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T08:50:22","slug":"caco3-as-sorbent-for-lead-removal-from-waste-waters","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/superfici\/caco3-as-sorbent-for-lead-removal-from-waste-waters\/","title":{"rendered":"CaCO3 as sorbent for lead removal from waste waters"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>To date few articles are reporting results on lead\u00a0sorption\u00a0at the calcite-water solution interface by X-ray\u00a0photoelectron spectroscopy\u00a0(XPS) and this investigation aims to clarifying the mechanism of the interaction of Pb<sup>2+<\/sup>\u00a0model solutions over a wide concentration range, from 0.1\u00a0\u03bcM to 80\u00a0mM, with commercial\u00a0calcite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:38% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"641\" height=\"438\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/superfici\/files\/2025\/08\/CaCO3-crystal-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-286 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/superfici\/files\/2025\/08\/CaCO3-crystal-2.jpg 641w, https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/superfici\/files\/2025\/08\/CaCO3-crystal-2-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 641px) 100vw, 641px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>\u2022 Calcite is a promising and efficient material to remove lead from aqueous solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Lead removal mechanism involves heterogeneous nucleation and surface co-precipitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Lead removal by using\u00a0calcite\u00a0is around 100% within a wide range Pb<sup>2+<\/sup>\u00a0concentration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 XPS, XRPD, SEM, ICP-AES are synergetic for clarifying the\u00a0sorption mechanism.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>These findings suggest that heterogeneous nucleation and surface co-precipitation occur and\u00a0calcite\u00a0can be well considered a very promising sorbent for Pb<sup>2+<\/sup>\u00a0removal from wastewaters within a wide initial concentration range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Publication<\/strong>: E.
