Therefore, it is essential to perform a thorough surface characterization of CaCO<sub>3<\/sub>&nbsp;using XPS.&nbsp;This work is carried out aiming to obtain <strong>high-quality reference spectra<\/strong> to assist in fitting the spectra of the powders following the contact with model solutions containing toxic elements as lead, cadmium, zinc, nickel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:31% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"931\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/superfici\/files\/2025\/08\/Ca2p-spectrum-1024x931.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-277 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/superfici\/files\/2025\/08\/Ca2p-spectrum-1024x931.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/superfici\/files\/2025\/08\/Ca2p-spectrum-300x273.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/superfici\/files\/2025\/08\/Ca2p-spectrum-768x698.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/superfici\/files\/2025\/08\/Ca2p-spectrum-1536x1396.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/superfici\/files\/2025\/08\/Ca2p-spectrum-2048x1862.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The core-level spectra of Sardinian limestone powders from Orosei marble district and from Carrara marble obtained by cutting the rocks are presented together with a just fractured crystal from Orosei quarry and compared with the commercial calcite and the literature. The current spectra may provide a foundation for identifying the phases that precipitate in the presence of toxic ions when the scrapes are used for environmental and water remediation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Publication<\/strong>: E.
