22 November 2024 – Cagliari, Aula Magna, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, via Marengo 2
Spoke 9 “Environmental Protection and Enhancement” of the PNRR e.INS Ecosystem (Ecosystem of Innovation for Next Generation Sardinia) is engaged, among its activities, in supporting process and product innovation within the economic, productive, and social fabric of the Sardinia Region, with a particular focus on the agro-industrial sector. Its strong regional focus has led to a dialogue with companies across various relevant sectors to gather input and encourage ideas for collaboration and partnerships with other local economic actors, especially in the areas of waste reduction and valorization through resource recovery.
The event on 22 November was attended by thirty Sardinian companies interested in innovating and improving their production processes and products, with a particular focus on resource management and environmental impact.
For the occasion, Spoke 9 presented its activities and offered examples of practical applications stemming from the research conducted within the project, which involves the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences, the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences, the Department of Biomedical Sciences, and the Department of Political and Social Sciences.
During the event, Spoke 9 also introduced its new Cascade Call, which provides 50% co-funding for the innovation plans of regional Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. The call is already available on the University’s website (https://www.unica.it/it/ricerca/pnrr/bandi-cascata) with a deadline for applications set for 10 January 2025.
In the afternoon, companies were divided—based on their characteristics and challenges—into two working groups led by researchers from the project. The goal was to identify shared themes across the different businesses and guide them along a path of innovation capable of creating true circular economy networks.
