Social activities and … more!

In order to make your stay in Cagliari funnier, you can find some proposals of activities. Consider looking at the local info section of the website for more. Let’s start with the OFFICIAL SOCIAL ACTIVITIES. Then, have a look and book the UNOFFICIAL (but vibrant) activities: we organized to give you the best experience in Cagliari. To ease your movements in the city, you can download the official CTM BusFinder app, where you can buy tickets for the city buses and find the routes you need. For the activities, please, contact Danilo Pani to have information and organize the groups, preferably by Thursday for the group activities!

Ready to start SPaM2024? Join our informal get-together in downtown Cagliari. Reserve a seat to have an informal aperitif/dinner based on fresh cocktails/beers/soft drinks and platters of panadas (a panada is a typical pastry ‘basket’ filled with meat and/or vegetables and/or fish…), coccois prenas, culurgiones, and other delicious finger-food-revisited versions of these traditional dishes. Meet us at Sa Panada.

July 1st, 2024 – 17:30 – 20:30

Are you ready to discover Cagliari? What is better than a scavenger hunt? Join us in small (randomly selected) groups and have a walk on the streets of this beautiful city!

July 1st, 2024 – 20:30 – …

Join us for a traditional Sardinian dinner in Cagliari, at Ammentos. Full menu for us (appetizers, first and second courses, sweets, water, and wine) at about 30 €/person (30-35). Lighter (cheaper) menus are available (no first course, no second course,…). The restaurant bases most of the preparations on meat (beef, goat, sheep, but also pork, including the traditional grilled suckling pig), but vegetarian options are available (reduced menus). Very informal, just after the treasure hunt in Cagliari or directly from your hotel, meet us here.

July 2nd, 2024 – 19:30 – 23:00

Social Dinner at restaurant La Marinella. On the beach, Viale Golfo di Quartu, 47, 09045 Quartu Sant’Elena (a city next to Cagliari), on the stunning Poetto beach, 8 km of sand that joins the two towns. Complimentary bus transfer will start from the Hotel Regina Margherita. Eating fish on the beach… what else?

July 3rd, 2024 – 14:30 – 19:00

How was Cagliari? Did you hear about the ancient Sardinian history? Come with us to visit one of the main archeological attractions of Sardinia: Su Nuraxi. Nuraghes are like ancient castles, made up of rocks without cement, and built starting from XIII century BC (in this case). By a complimentary bus transfer, we’ll take you to this UNESCO heritage monument, one of the biggest “nuraghe” in Sardinia, and Casa Zapata, a 1500 house built over another nuraghe. A “must see”. Ticket entrance (13€) is at your expense.

UNOFFICIAL SOCIAL ACTIVITIES ON Sunday and Thursday

During your stay, you can discover Cagliari in different ways… surely you can go to the beach and go swimming, but… are you sure that’s your best option? Here you can find some proposals. We’ll be glad to book for groups. Please, let us know by Thursday at the latest!

1. Cagliari is Sardinia, Sardinia is an island, so the sea is the most important attraction! You can take your towel and sunbathe at Poetto Beach, a white sandy beach 8 km long, served by several bathhouses.

Lungomare Poetto - Cagliari

2. However, you could maybe prefer a different perspective of the same scenario… What about a tour in a kayak around the Devil’s Saddle (Sella del Diavolo) promontory next to Poetto Beach? There are two options by Bikappa&Kayak: (please, ask me to form groups)

  • 9:00 – 13:00: Briefing and instructions on the kayak use, departure from Marina Piccola (the touristic harbor close to Poetto Beach) at a very comfortable speed, circumnavigation of the promontory to reach Calamosca Beach, and options for bathing/swimming or aperitif at Calamosca. Cost: 35€/person without aperitif, 40€/person with aperitif (Prosecco or soft drink, fresh fruit like pineapple, cherries, strawberries,..). Group size from 1 to 30 people.
  • 9:00 – 13:00: two groups: group A starts with the kayak, group B hike on the Devil’s Saddle. They meet at Calamosca and exchange, group A comes back by hike, B by kayak. Cost: 35€/person without aperitif, 40€/person with aperitif (Prosecco or soft drink, fresh fruit like pineapple, cherries, strawberries,..). Group size from 10 to 50 people.

3. A mini cruise with an 8-seat motorboat in the Angel’s Gulf (Golfo degli Angeli), the one of the Poetto Beach? There are some options, we are in contact with BSBS (please, ask me to form groups, not directly to them) that, because of the lack of wind, proposes a small cruise on a watersport motorboat, for maximum 6 people, starting from Marina Piccola Touristic Harbor (from the Hotel Regina Margherita, there is a direct bus connection) and back, visit to the Sella del Diavolo coves; stop at Poetto Beach, Cala Fighera, Calamosca, for swimming/snorkeling. From 10:00 to 13.00, or from 15:30 to 18:30. 60€/person, no minimum number of people required. Please urgently get in touch with Danilo if you want to join the afternoon trip.

4. Don’t miss the breath-taking views embellished by the flight of pink flamingos over the lagoon: they’ll leave you amazed and ensure spectacular holiday snaps. You can visit the Molentarius-Saline Natural Park. Molentargius was the richest Sardinian basin for sea-salt extraction for two and a half centuries. You can visit it in different ways:

  • Simple trekking on your own. The park is very flat but quite big. we inform you that the park is approximately 1590 hectares large and the main route is 12 km long (round trip). Free entrance, 8:30 to 20:00. Some areas are interdicted.
  • Rent a bike there, active every day from 8.30 to 20.00 non-stop with a cost of 10€ for two hours and 15€ for four hours. Some areas are interdicted.
  • The Molentargius tour is the only guided tour, carried out with an electric minibus, which accesses the protected areas of the Park and lasts approximately 1.5 hours. On board you will have our expert park guide who will tell you the history of the park, provide you with binoculars or a telescope to better spot the species that populate the park and will take you inside the former state salt pans and, on a short route on foot, you will also reach the pink flamingo nesting site, an area inaccessible unless accompanied by authorized staff.
The tour is carried out in both Italian and English. Cost: €25.00 for adults, €15.00 for children aged 4 to 10, Over 65s and disabled people, free for children aged 0 to 3. Hours: 11.00am – 3.30pm – 5.30pm. You can contact us to enable the collection of the different request and interact with the tourist office.

5. Hiking at the Devil’s Saddle with… us! Free of charge, wonderful views, possibility to have a light lunch at Calamosca Beach. From 10:00 to 13:00.

6. Or… just visit the city. A few vibrant proposals:

  • Only for you, we can organize a visit to Clemente Susini’s Anatomical Waxes Museum of the University of Cagliari, with an exceptional guide: the Museum’s Director. The Museum opens from 9.00 to 13.00 and from 4.30pm to 7.00pm. Saturday and Sunday included. Free entrance. For a guided tour, I need to know in advance to ask the director. Otherwise, you can simply go and enjoy. Let us know!

  • Nuragica is the original History Show that tells the story of the ancient Sardinian people who, 3500 years ago, built over 10 thousand stone towers, the nuraghi, on the island. Open from 10:00 / 13:00 – 17:00 / 20:00. Duration time about 1 hour, FULL PRICE 15€.

  • Visit to Sant’Eulalia‘s Archeological site. The archaeological area of Saint Eulalia expanded for about 900m2 under the church of the same name in the medieval area of Marina: structures related to the changes from the IV B.C to the XIX century A.D are visible. For hours and tickets see here.

  • And many more… see here for further ideas or simply… get in contact with the local organizers!

Finally… if you’d like to visit some other places in Sardinia (trekking, beaches, …) just ask us! We think a nice option is to visit:

just to say a few. We can arrange to get there by car, if we’re a few people only. Let us know.

In any case, ENJOY YOUR STAY!
