{"id":8551,"date":"2023-07-27T18:52:32","date_gmt":"2023-07-27T16:52:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/pralab\/?page_id=8551"},"modified":"2023-08-04T13:09:24","modified_gmt":"2023-08-04T11:09:24","slug":"multimodal-biometrics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.unica.it\/pralab\/multimodal-biometrics\/","title":{"rendered":"Multimodal biometrics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Multimodal biometrics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Mono-modal biometric systems suffer from the drawback that their \u201cerror rate\u201d on personal recognition could not meet the stringent performance requirements in many real scenarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With regard to this problem, the multi-modal \u201cfusion\u201d of biometric systems allows satisfying these requirements more easily. At present, such systems can be categorized into:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mono-biometric systems with multiple recognition algorithms;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Multi-biometric systems;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hybrid biometric systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>PRA Lab concurred to the state-of-the-art advancement on multi-biometric systems based on fingerprint and face biometric traits. Novel algorithms and frameworks for combining information coming from biometric and also soft-biometrics (e.g. hair colour) have been proposed. A tool exploiting the joint use of face and fingerprint biometrics has been recently developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Video-surveillance applications have been also taken into account, by the development of systems&nbsp;<strong>fusing biometrics and remote localization devices<\/strong>, based on RFID. Since these systems are also aimed to check the behavior of subjects into a certain scene,&nbsp;<strong>head-pose estimation algorithms<\/strong>&nbsp;have been also
