Programme<\/a><\/p>\n

The General Assembly of the United Nations established February 11th as the\u00a0International Day of Women and Girls in Science<\/a>\u00a0in order to promote gender equality and ensure that women and girls gain equal access and participation in science.<\/p>\n

In occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science<\/a>, the\u00a0mathematicians of the University of Cagliari<\/strong>,<\/strong> already involved in the projects of the PLS (Scientific Degrees Plan), proposes a competition dedicated to the students of the last two years of secondary schools entitled<\/p>\n

“Female mathematics: challenges and successes of great women”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Female and male students will work in groups of at most 5 members<\/em> to create a presentation (through slides, posters, plays, comics, etc.) on a woman who has contributed to or is contributing to advances in Mathematics. The<\/em> will be remotely assisted in the preparation of their<\/em> presentations<\/em> by the female researchers in Mathematics of University of Cagliari<\/em>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Each group will have about\u00a015 minutes\u00a0<\/strong>on the 11th of February<\/strong> 2022<\/strong> to present its own work. The same participants to the competition will choose the best presentation<\/strong>, which will receive a prize<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

To participate in the competition, the reference teacher and the group leader, who must be a girl,<\/em> should<\/em> complete the following registration form by January 10th, 2022<\/u><\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Each<\/em> group<\/em> should consist for the 60% of<\/em> female students. In addition, each group will have to indicate<\/em> in the form<\/em> three names of<\/em> women<\/em> mathematicians<\/em> as preferences for their presentation<\/em>. To diversify the presentations, the organizers will choose which of these<\/em> three<\/em> will be the character that the group will<\/em> actually<\/em> present.<\/em>
