The conference \u201cVirtual Reality\u201d, held on Friday, May 23rd at the Ex Vetreria in Pirri as part of the 8th edition of the Sant\u2019Arte Festival, offered an unique opportunity to explore the fusion of innovation, memory, and art.
The event opened with welcome remarks from the Pinuccio Sciola Foundation and a presentation by engineer Riccardo Castiglian\u00f2 who spoke about the CTE Cagliari DLAB project highlighting how research and innovation can help to preserve and enhance cultural heritage.

Prof. <\/a>Luigi Atzori (Director of Net4U and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Cagliari) then presented the project \u201cVR Lab \u2013 Giardino Sonoro Virtuale\u201d, developed in collaboration with the Sciola Foundation. This immersive experience\u2014thanks to VR headsets and haptic gloves\u2014allows users to explore remotely the Giardino Sonoro of San Sperate, bringing Sciola\u2019s famous sound sculptures to life in a new, sensory dimension.

Next, artist and filmmaker <\/a>Josephine Derobe presented the first prototype of her project PIETRA, winner of the Villa Formose \u201cprototype\u201d 2024 residency. Inspired by Sciola\u2019s work, PIETRA is an immersive experience that imagines an ideal city where visitors actively shape and transform the space through musical vibrations.

The final talk was given by Prof. <\/a>Giacomo Cao, President of the Sardinian Aerospace District (<\/a>DASS Sardinia), who shared the story behind the district\u2019s logo\u2014designed by Pinuccio Sciola in 2015. The symbol depicts one of Sciola\u2019s iconic sculptures, carved with lines and squares, chosen to reflect the district\u2019s identity and its connection to memory and space. In Sciola\u2019s words:
\u201cThe stone is never dumb and deaf, it encloses memories and stories. And it releases that scientists of space find on the planets.”

This was a moment of genuine exchange\u2014where art and technology came together to imagine new cultural horizons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arte e tecnologia in dialogo: Net4U al Festival Sant\u2019Arte<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


Il convegno \u201cRealt\u00e0 Virtuale\u201d, svoltosi venerd\u00ec 23 maggio all\u2019Ex Vetreria di Pirri, nell\u2019ambito dell\u2019ottava edizione del Festival Sant\u2019Arte, \u00e8 stato un\u2019occasione unica per esplorare la fusione tra innovazione, memoria e arte.

L\u2019incontro si \u00e8 aperto con i saluti istituzionali della Fondazione Pinuccio Sciola e con la presentazione del CTE Cagliari DLAB a cura dell\u2019ing. Riccardo Castiglian\u00f2, che ha introdotto il ruolo della ricerca e dell\u2019innovazione nella valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale.

Il Prof. <\/a>Luigi Atzori (Direttore di Net4U e del DIEE, Universit\u00e0 degli Studi di Cagliari) ha poi presentato il progetto \u201cVR Lab \u2013 Giardino Sonoro Virtuale\u201d, sviluppato in collaborazione con la Fondazione Sciola. L\u2019esperienza, realizzata in ambiente immersivo con visori e guanti aptici, consente di esplorare da remoto il Giardino Sonoro di San Sperate, facendo rivivere le celebri pietre sonore di Sciola in una nuova dimensione sensoriale e accessibile.

A seguire, l\u2019artista e regista <\/a>Josephine Derobe ha presentato il primo prototipo del suo progetto PIETRA, vincitore della \u201cVilla Formose \u201cprototype\u201d 2024 residency\u201d : un\u2019esperienza immersiva ispirata alle opere di Sciola, che d\u00e0 vita a una citt\u00e0 ideale dove gli spettatori partecipano attivamente alla sua creazione e trasformazione attraverso vibrazioni musicali.

L\u2019intervento finale \u00e8 stato affidato all Prof. <\/a>Giacomo Cao, Presidente del Distretto Aerospaziale della Sardegna (<\/a>DASS Sardinia), ha raccontato la genesi del logo del DASS, ideato da Pinuccio Sciola nel 2015. Il simbolo raffigura una pietra sonora scolpita con righe e quadrati, scelta per rappresentare l\u2019identit\u00e0 del distretto e il suo legame con la memoria e lo spazio. Come affermava Sciola:
\u201cLa pietra non \u00e8 mai muta e sorda, racchiude memorie e storie. E rilascia suoni simili a quelli che gli studiosi dello spazio trovano sui pianeti.\u201d

E\u2019 stato un evento di scambio autentico, dove arte e tecnologia hanno immaginato insieme nuovi orizzonti culturali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
