IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Technical Award 2025

Professor Paolo Attilio Pegoraro has received the prestigious IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Technical Award 2025, with the following citation:

“For outstanding contributions to the advancement of synchronized measurements and monitoring systems for power grids”.

Professor Pegoraro is the fifth Italian scientist in the 44-year history of the award to receive the recognition, confirming, on the one hand, the outstanding role of Italian research in the field of Instrumentation and Measurement (I&M) and, on the other, the international standing achieved by the I&M Group of the University of Cagliari.

 

Italian Research Quality Evaluation (VQR) 2015-19

In the year 2022, the third Italian Research Quality Assessment (VQR) was completed, relating to the years 2015-19 and carried out by the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research System (Anvur) with the collaboration of 645 experts and over 11,000 external auditors, Italian and foreign. According to this assessment, the I&M Group of the University of Cagliari confirmed the level of excellence obtained in the 2011-14 VQR.

In particular, the I&M Group ranked first among the Instrumentation and Measurement groups of all the Italian Universities present in the ranking.

 

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, TIM, 70th anniversary

In the year 2020 in which the University of Cagliari celebrates its 400th anniversary, the prestigious international journal IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, TIM, the reference journal in the field of electrical and electronic measurements, celebrates its 70th anniversary. On this anniversary, TIM awarded those who have contributed most to its success throughout the 70 years and the last 7 in particular. Several categories were honored, from authors to editorial board members and the most active reviewers. In this context, the I&M Group of the University of Cagliari has positioned itself brilliantly in all rankings.

In particular, Carlo Muscas appears in the top 10 of the “Top 70 most-published authors of all time” ranking, which also includes Paolo Attilio Pegoraro. Carlo Muscas and Paolo Attilio Pegoraro also appear in the top 10 of the “Top 70 most-published authors in the past 7 years” ranking, which also includes Sara Sulis. The members of the Group of Instrumentation and Measurement, Paolo Castello, Carlo Muscas, Paolo Attilio Pegoraro and Sara Sulis, are also present in the “Top 70 most-cited articles published in the past seven years” ranking with 3 articles, one of which in the Top 10.
