Venue

It is a beautiful city, rough, stoney with colours that change within the rocks….” (Carlo Levi, Tutto il miele è finito, 1964)
And suddenly there is Cagliari: a naked town rising steep, golden looking….(David Herbert Lawrence, Sea and Sardinia, 1921)

Cagliari is not the most renowned tourist destination in Sardinia, which is much more famous for its beaches and natural landscapes. Nevertheless, because of its long and complex history and the many foreign dominations which left several cultural contaminations, Cagliari is able to offer beautiful city sceneries, natural landscapes close to the city center, art treasures and interesting museums, as well as a vively nighlife and an excellent cuisine, mixing specialties from the sea and land.

Historical Districts (Castello, Marina, Stampace, Villanova).

Castello is the ancient discrit where the different foreign dominators and local aristrocratic families lived. It hosts the “Palazzo Viceregio” (Viceroy Palace), the Cathedral, the old towers (“Torri Pisane”) and the remnants of the city walls (“Bastione Santa Croce” and “Bastione Saint Remy”). Marina takes place over the original Roman town whose remnants can be visited in the Sant’Eulalia church; Marina is the area of typical restaurants and cafes. Stampace and Villanova are the ancient districts where the poorest sardinian people lived, with their typical narrow streets. In particular, Stampace hosts the Sant’Efisio church, from which the renowned parade of “Festa di Sant’Efisio” starts on 1st if May.
