PROJECT

ExploringMatter aims at analysing events produced in ultra relativistic nuclei collisions with the high precision of the LHCb detector at CERN. The project has four main objectives, which involve (1) the operation of the LHCb detector during LHC proton-proton, proton-lead and lead-lead collisions as well as the data taking in the fixed-target “SMOG” setup; (2 and 3) the analysis of these events, a task which also include the development of the tools for such analysese, as the deployment of the triggers and the measurement of the efficiencies, and (4) to study the implications of such measurements for current theories and future experimental facilities. Scientists from University of Cagliari (UNICA) in Italy and CNRS in France are working on the project, with the PI based at UNICA.
