Cagliari is the capital of the Sardinia island, Italy, and is the main city in southern Sardinia. It can be easily reached by plane from Italy main land, e.g. via Milan or Rome, or directly from abroad, e.g. from London, Munich, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Madrid. The direct international routes are also served by low-cost companies. The city airport is Cagliari Elmas (CAG), only 10 minutes from the city center by public transport.

Train: The airport train station is about 5 minutes’ walk from the airport arrival hall. After exiting the airport hall follow the “Treni/Train” signs to the left. A one-way train ticket costs 1.25 Euros and can be purchased at the automatic vending machine located towards the end of the corridor connecting the airport to the platform (don’t forget to validate the ticket before you go in). Trains leave approximately every 20 minutes and run approximately from 6:30 to 23:00. The travel time from the “Cagliari-Elmas” train station to the “Cagliari” station, located in the Cagliari city center, is approximately 10 minutes. The Cagliari train station is located in Piazza Matteotti, in the Cagliari city centre.

Taxi: Taxis can also be found outside the airport arrival hall. A ride to the city centre costs about 20 Euros.

Getting to Sardinia by boat: Alternatively, you can take a ferry boat (from Civitavecchia, Napoli, Palermo or Trapani) to Cagliari. The Cagliari harbour is also in the city centre, close to Piazza Matteotti.
